Woo! When I was picked for the Truvia Sample & Share, I wasn’t thinking they’d also give me the Truvia Brunch Hosted Party, but they did! It’s my first Crowdtap Hosted Party in many months, so I was very excited!

The idea was to host a brunch and bake with Truvia to share the possibilities of this stevia based natural alternative sweetener. They gave us just over a week and a half to have the party, but barely that when I received the party pack. So, since it didn’t arrive in time to combine with our annual Halloween party, I planned to have a brunch the following Sunday. Yes, our Halloween decorations were still up for this party. 🙂

For the brunch, I checked out the recipes and decided on the Reduced-Sugar Banana Bread and the Raspberry Oatmeal Bars. Of course, we served up the Folgers Gourmet Selections Vanilla Biscotti, and had some juices on hand. I asked friends to bring brunch items and ta da a brunch slowly formed!

My boyfriend helped me get the house ready for the party, but when it turned out only ladies were attending, he stayed in another room most of the time. Heh. The morning of the party I spent baking the two Truvia recipes. They made the house smell good, especially that banana bread (which was my first time baking, and well, my first time baking bread from scratch!). It was also my first time making raspberry oatmeal bars, but I had made bar cookies in the past. All in all fun! Another first, using our food processor to get the frozen raspberries more into a paste, yep, I managed to always have my boyfriend use it!

Everything was ready and it was brunch time! M arrived first and we caught up and had mimosas. Then, O arrived and I offered her a mimosa and we all caught up. Lastly, C & R arrived and more mimosas went around. Also, the Foldgers Gourmet Selections was poured for everyone, except R. And, we all posed trying it with Truvia!

I think everyone liked it enough in their coffee, definitely said it was sweet. I told them that one pack was equal to 2 sugar packets, so if they didn’t like that sweet, to try half a Truvia packet.

After we all chatted a bit, we decided to try the Truvia baked goods I had made. Everyone liked them, some the banana bread more, some the raspberry oatmeal bar. When I went back for a second try, I thought there was an aftertaste to them. O had brought a sugar baked good and I have to say, we all noticed a difference. One can really tell if comparing baked goods that sugar is a lot sweeter. I’d be fine eating the Truvia baked goods, so long as I’m not also eating a sugar baked good.

All in all, it was a great time with these ladies…sharing a bit of Truvia while we chatted about life! The party lasted from 1pm until 4:30pm with just the 6 of us (if you count the two times my boyfriend came out and tried the coffee and food, and then helped with the giveaway).

Right, before M left, I had a raffle for the Truvia apron and well, she won! Heh. Congrats M! Everyone else took some packets of Truvia home with them.
