In this edition of a few of my confessions, I have a theme about my learning to drive and my first car. Enjoy…are they really confessions…guess you will have to read!
1) I got my learner’s permit in Vermont. I found out it was easier to get it in that state, and when I went up there for the summer, I got it at the age of 19. Then back to college, I just paid to turn it into a FL one.
2) I learned how to drive when I was 25 years old. I remember wanting to learn to drive in high school, but I did not want to take Driver’s Ed. I thought for sure my mom would teach me, but as time went by she never did. Then, I went off to college, and there was not any real need to learn there…I lived across from school, and had friends with cars. After college, it still wasn’t until I had a full time job for over a year, before a friend of mine made sure I learned to drive (I know he did not want to be my chauffeur anymore). Well, GE taught me to drive, and TB taught me to park! Thanks so much, you two!
3) I took my driver’s test twice, not because I didn’t know how to drive, but because I could not park. Oh, that man was so mean and just told me to drive back, park, and denied. Anyway, TB spent a good bit of time teaching me how to park, and like magic, I passed the second time.

4) I got my first car at a car auction. That was an experience. They really spoke fast…and it was up to me to tell a guy which car to bid on and my maximum. Cars were going for more than I expected and before I knew it, I was going home with a car I didn’t want…and I cried. It was a good car to me from March 2005 until it died in August 2009.
5) I sold my car on Craig’s List…even though, yep…it didn’t move. I got a lot of offers and the first time I listed it, I couldn’t sell it. I got all sentimental. Second time I listed it, same lots of offers and someone came right out and paid cash. And they towed my car away…
Do you have any interesting stories about how you learned to drive? Your first car? Or how you sold a car? 🙂
